Looking into Network Administration

Hello all,

Can't decide whether I should go into Computer Science, or Information technology. What I want to be able to do as a career is work on Cisco related hardware, voip, switches, routers, networking in general. But I am a little bit lost on whether I should get a B.S. in computer science or information technology. I know either way I'll be spending another few years getting the experience and certs necessary to fit my needs. But for now to help myself be more successful in the industry, I know I must get a B.S. from a 4 year college program.

But I am a little bit at a lost, because even though 'information technology' caters to what I want to do as a major. There is no UC that actually offer it as an actual course. The only schools that seem to offer it are CSU's, which I am currently looking into CSU Monterey.

But since no ABET schools in California offer a degree program in Information Technology, would I be better off just going into Computer Science and just take it at UCSJ, UCSAC etc. Because to be hoenst I don't know how competitive CSU degrees are versus UC degrees. I just do not want to end up at a school that has a reputation as being a commuter school, which may effect my chances as a future employee.

Any opinions would be greatly appreciated!

Thank You
