Hey guys! I was reading an article in Choate's newspaper from last year that was talking about enrolling students. I came across something interesting. I have always thought that the only way to get off the waitlist was to take the spot of someone who rejected their spot.

However.....

"The Admissions Office expects to see a number of waitlisted students to get accepted because of last minute dropouts or a larger number of beds available than estimated"

This is what caught my eye "or a larger number of beds available".

So I would call this good news for those who are worried about getting off the waitlist. There are more than one factors in the waitlist procedure.

Maybe you guys already knew this but just in case, I wanted to let you know.

Good luck!

If I remember correctly, there was a new girls dorm that was complete at Choate last year -- and it was ready earlier than expected, which allowed them to take on about 10 more girls than they had originally thought they could. I could be wrong -- but I think I remember a bunch of posts about that.

Yes, Choate is supposed to finish their new dorm over the summer. One extra dorm, quite a few more bed, more beds, more people.

I understand, but they didn't build any new dorms last year and there were still "more beds than expected". Just seems pretty interesting.

I'm going with optimism, even though it was last year and Choate is not where we're hoping to get off the waitlist. Thanks cookie.

No problem lax! Also, I think we would be surprised to find how similar the school's situations may be. Good luck!
