Bfawg12- yeah! I read some more about it and it seems that Cowell is a bit more involved. I think I’ll keep Cowell as my first choice because I don’t know anyone and hope the various activities will help me meet people… Fingers crossed.

What do you think of Kresge? I know that the stereotype is that it’s all hippies and stoners but I also hear there is an artsy musical side too. I was reading more on college 8 and I hope it’s not filled with a bunch of bratty people. Idk. I think I’m totally overthinking this. I know Cowell is my number 1 choice, then Kresge and then college 8 (since if I don’t get into cowell, I can be in one of the other two and still be close to the transfer community)

As transfers, I don’t think our college affiliation matters too much. Aside from not even living on our affiliated college, do we even have to take the core course? I put down Kresge as my first choice, anyway, more for the artsy side, but there’s nothing wrong with hippies. They’re some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet.

From my understanding while attending Spring Spotlight, I do not believe we have to take any core courses. I know it doesn’t matter much but aren’t we supposed to be hanging out with the people at the different colleges during activities and such or is that with the transfer community itself at Porter?

hey i m mashal and i might be attending ucsc:D
and ill be staying at porter aswell if i end up going…do introduce urselves i am an econ major…hopefully i’ll be meeting interesting ppl this fall:)
facebook me:)

I agree about kresge! I don’t know why being around hippies is seen like a bad thing (not necessarily in this thread). But I don’t think the college affiliation really matters unless you want to move into apartments after the first quarter.

I am an Econ major. : ) You can find me on Facebook under Siara Nicole Crespo. : ) As far as Kresge. I totally agree. I plan to stay in the transfer community so that I am with other people in my situation. I thought about Kresge because its just right there next to Porter whereas Cowell (my other choice) is on the other end of campus. I still like Cowell though so thats my number 1 followed by Kresge and then College 8.

I just sent you a request :). I sort of wanted to move out after a quarter. I mean I am stoked on the transfer community. But I also want to experience apartment living and I doubt I’ll live on campus next year

After having lived more or less on my own since I was 17, I can’t imagine living in a dorm and dealing with all the arbitrary rules, not to mention sharing a bathroom with tons of people. No thanks, I’ll live off campus from the start. ;)

hey, my name is Kabir and I am also a business econ major and going to be transferring in fall of 2010. Coming from So-cal, and just can’t wait to get outta here!

Indyerhardt and dchaves07, add me on xbox! “PMS Flixxy” is my gamertag. :]

I’m totally stalk-joining that facebook group!

How cool. I’m an econ major too. Well actually, I just changed it to Business management economics. Though, I wonder if i can do a joint with mathematics and business management. Anyone going to orientation? I decided to skip it since I didn’t want to pay the fee, haha. I’m pretty excited to meet you all when the time comes!

omg there are so many Business econ management majors! i am general econ… did you guys take one yr of accounting already and all the math requirement?

I am very happy with the Business Management Economics Major. I dont know if you can do a joint with another but Im pretty sure you can. I know I would like to get a Dual Degree with “Emphasis in Accounting” which is another year but then I will have my BA and MA. Check out the Economics website and feel free to email them. They are so nice!

As for apartment living, I couldnt see anything better but I want to experience the dorms for a year to meet people first because I’m from Southern California and dont know anybody up there. I plan on moving off campus 2011-2012 year.

themystic- I took a year of accounnting (a semester of financial accounting and a semester of managerial accounting) and I went the business route with mathematics (which saved me time not having to take trig, precalc, and then the several calculus classes that there are).

I haven’t taken any accounting classes. Math wise, I’m taking Econ 11A and then maybe 11B during the summer, but I’m not sure if summer classes count. Who did you e-mail in econ department, syayaca?

frosty110- What I did was I went on the Economics Department website and found their economics email address.
econ_web@ucsc.edu
Then I emailed them any questions. Whats really cool (in my experience anyway) is if you email to the wrong department, that department will forward your email to the department that could answer your question.
In my case, a woman by the name of Inga Tromba helped me out. She is the undergraduate Program Advisor. Very nice person. Go ahead and email them. They will do anything and everything to help you out.

Thanks a lot, much appreciated! My name is Blaise, btw.

Its nice to meet you! : )

have you guys filled out any personal questions for roommate assigning yet? i definately want to make sure i do b/c roommates can make or break you ya know ha
