My name is Anthony Elias and I am a freshman at Stonehill College in Easton, Massachusetts and I absolutely love it. However, I have sort of a career crisis in which I would like to receive some external advice about. My major/minor combination right now is Finance and Economics. First semester it was fine and not too difficult for me, however, this semester I had to take a Calculus for Business class and dropped it because I was having a such a difficult time. You see, in high school I never took calculus or even pre-calculus. The farthest I ever pursued math was AP Statistics. I HATE math, however, I am having trouble figuring out what other career opportunity I could pursue that would help me. I looked into Political Science and Criminology but i'm still very unsure. If anyone has any advice for me it would be greatly appreciated!

Take a PreCalc course before you even attempt Calculus.

If you do this, you should easily be able to handle finance and economics.

Also, make sure you’re going to lectures, paying attention, asking for help, doing homework, and going to officer hours. All the help you need is right in front of you, you just need to take advantage.

I agree, an individual does not need to take pre-calculus to do well in calculus. I have taken both, and I did not notice any similarities between them because calculus covers completely different topics.
