Hello everyone. Currently I am an English major, but looking to transfer somewhere to study music (my current school only offers BA, I want a BM). I'm a soprano coloratura with a really large range (from Idina Menzel to Sarah Brightman). I can sing classical, broadway, and popular, although I am most interested in Classical and Broadway. I was wondering if anyone had some suggestions for schools that are classical but open to exploring other genres sometimes and are not looking for a "standard" classical voice. Also, I am not limited to conservatories and would prefer a variety of options. Hope that all made sense haha...thanks.

Berklee College of Music? Sorry I can't be of more help, best of luck!

Look at Westminster Choir College, part of Rider University. They were very welcoming of the combination of classical and musical theater when DD was considering them.

Oklahoma City University has the combination of great classical/MT training.

Montclair State University in NJ has both classical and MT programs and teachers who deal with both, as do Wagner College, University of Michigan, Indiana University...check the big list and look at all of them for those that have both classical and MT. Somewhere in their faculties will be teachers who deal with both. And good luck to you.
