Hey,
I'm a freshman at Lehigh University looking to transfer out. My top choice is Georgetown University, specifically the business school. I applied there last year but got rejected. My stats are as followed
GPA
college: 3.41
high school: 3.7 weighted
Sats-1380/1600
EC- captain varsity ski and tennis team
student class vp soph. jr years
various clubs, 180hrs. community service

I know my GPA is kinda low for college, but i was wondering if the fact that the grades came from Lehigh, a school traditionally known for tough grades, and within 3 spots in the top business school rankings from g-town will account for something. please let me know.

I am also planning to apply to Richmond, BC and mich

BC is gonna be a reach with that GPA, although i know Lehigh is a hard school. You have a shot at BC and GTown, maybe a slightly better shot at GTown if you look at transfer rates and stats.

i disagree. Although I would say that he has a chance at all of those schools, I think G'Town is a much harder school to transfer into than BC.

Even though BC may have a higher acceptance rate (i'm not sure it does), it would only be because more qualified students are applying there.

...actually, I believe BC's acceptance rate is lower than Harvard's.

A good example of someone who has no idea what he is talking about, but acts like he does.

I think the caliber of Lehigh's program will count for something, but remember that there will be transfer apps from students at other high-caliber schools with higher GPA's than yours.

So, be sure to strengthen your app in every other aspect to build on your very credible GPA: strong prof recs, essays which show an in-depth understanding of why the transfer school will be better for you and what it offers in a business program that you might not find at Lehigh.

nsped. my point about BC was that although they might have a lower rate of acceptance, that doesn't necessarily mean that it is a more difficult school to transfer into.

Average SAT's for incoming transfers, 1285 and an average college GPA of 3.55. Although that's very high for higher ed. in general, it's not ridiculously high for top-tier schools.

Although G'Town doesn't have this info available, I would be very surprised if it didn't have more qualified students competing for their transfer spots.
