Looking to transfer to Rutgers NB help please!

Im a freshman currently attending University of Hartford but I’m looking to transfer to Rutgers NB (SAS) as it would be cheaper since i live in NJ. Anyhow i’m not yet sure if my grades would allow me too. I currently have a 3.19 gpa having taken a writing class (B), chemistry class (C+), health professions class (A) and a math class (A) equalling to 12 credits. I didn’t do as well as i wanted especially since Im a recruited athlete here but am determined to do better this semester especially since i want to transfer and focus on my studies instead of playing sports. Anyone have insight on my chances of getting in or a target where i want to be at when i apply to transfer?
Thanks

You will want your GPA to be around 3.5 to be competitive for transfer admission. How well did you do in high school? They also want your high school transcript which may have an impact depending on your performance.
Generally about 50% of transfers are accepted, so I think if you bump your GPA up a bit, you have a good shot.

I did very bad in highschool :frowning: (2.8gpa) My priorities were really bad back then and even now still need working on but I’m much more determined since the past. Do you think I should work harder instead then try to apply for spring semester next year?

If you want, you can still apply for this fall and see what happens. If it doesn’t work out, you can always apply for next spring as well. Hopefully you can start to show a good upward trend in grades.
