So I didn’t start out this year so hot. I have 1 A, 1 B, 1 C, and an F. I realise that the F is a big tank in my grade, I just realized how important school is and how much it affects my future, I can pull the F up the teacher is nice enough and my GPA is 2.5. Is there any way by the grace of god I can pull my grade up high enough to get into Cornell by the end of junior year?
I can take AP too. I’m not stupid i was just an immature slacker
okay, you need to chill. If you work on pulling your grades up, I’m sure you can get into Cornell in the future. But that’s a LONG way away, and a college application is dependent on so much more than just GPA. However, if you want to have any sort of shot at an Ivy in the future, you’re going to need at LEAST a 3.7 GPA.
If you are currently a junior there is no way you can bring your GPA up to a level that would make Cornell even a high reach.
as it says in the title, I’m a freshman
I get really stressed out about this stuff
Also, don’t get hung up on going to Cornell. Sure, going to a good school is always something to strive for, but if you get hung up on Cornell, and don’t get in, you’ll be heartbroken, but if you keep your options open, I’m sure you’ll find the right school for you.
Thanks man, Thats really helpful!
It’s a very rare student that can pull up a 2.5 freshman GPA up to the 3.8+ that you would likely need for Cornell or a similarly competitive school. That being said, do the best you can and see where you are in 2 years.
As a current Cornell freshman, one thing that you should know that even at Cornell, you’re best is not enough. Having such grades will be a huge hinderance, but it’s fixable if you give it your all; however, you need to know that coming here will require even more work ethic than pulling up your HS GPA. If you think you can handle that and be committed to doing that, then I think you will have a good shot at Cornell, but like the others said, don’t get too hung up on one school.
