Lopsided SAT score?

So I just got CR 800 Math 800 WR 660
Last time it was CR 760 Math 760 WR 680

So, while my total score has gone up by 60 points, my WR score has fallen and now it looks like a major blemish :(

I plan to apply to UChicago, Cornell, Northwestern, Pomona, Claremont McKenna, Swarthmore, and Bryn Mawr.

Would my SAT scores be a disadvantage for me?

I don’t know about all those schools, but I’m fairly certain at least of a few of those superscore, which should be nice.

2240 or 2280 with superscore is pretty good.

Chicago only counts the first two sections and so you should be fine there.

Other schools should consider you a strong candidate too.

You are still an extremely strong candidate, and a difference in 20 points isn’t that big of a deal. This last SAT I ended up with a 1900 combined (630 CR,660 Math, 610 W). Screaming at the computer screen However, last June I scored a 2220 (760 Math, 720 W, 740 CR). I’m hoping my colleges will be sidetracked by my consistent ACT scores and my 2220. You’re never going to be able to predict college admissions.

“Would my SAT scores be a disadvantage for me?”

Like really? Use your brain…

Thats not lopsided! Try a 780M 580CR :(

You’re fine! :)

Mom here–I have one kid with an 800 in critical reading who never scored higher than an 8 on the essay. My other child who hates to read and let’s just say his CR score was hundreds of points lower than the other child got a 9 on his essay though not higher on the writing section. IMHO the writing section can be heavily skewed by an essay reader who doesn’t get what someone wrote about.

First child also had a friend who was fairly creative and made up all of her examples for the writing portion. Her scores–always 12s. Don’t worry about the writing section.
