The travel-to-another-state, night-at-a-motel SAT results are in.
EBRW - 770, which is at or above 75% range for all colleges on D’s list
Math - 690, which is either slightly above, right at, or slightly below 25% range for the same colleges.
What do you think, would submitting these scores be beneficial, detrimental, or neutral?
She’s a humanities/social sciences/languages/music kid
What is her intended major? If not STEM, probably would submit.
@BKSquared I realized it’s an important piece of info, and added it to the initial post before the Edit window expired
Thank you
I would submit.
That’s a good score. Submit.
Agree -submit.
@ArtsyKidDad My artsy, humanities D20 had exactly the same scores and submitted them to all of her schools. She was accepted RD to Williams, MIddlebury (deferred ED1), Haverford, Vassar, Colby, Grinnell, Kenyon, and Oberlin. She was WL’d at Bates and denied by Bowdoin (not a surprise) and Wesleyan (a bit surprised that she wasn’t WL’d, but a huge # of kids from her HS apply and they’re almost all smart artsy girls). Based on our experience, and knowing that your D is a clear humanities applicant, I would submit the scores. Good luck!
D20 had a very similar score (680/780) and a list that shared a lot of schools with those listed by @gotham_mom. She is not a STEM kid, looking for IR/PoliSci/Gov/Econ. She was accepted ED at her T20 LAC so she had to withdraw her other applications. I would agree that the scores should be submitted!
Just a little happy-end P.S.:
The school required D to take another SAT (it’s a graduation requirement and only the school-administered SATs count). We’re glad they did - now that the results just came in. Her math score went up by 50 points so the superscore is no longer lopsided, it’s 770/740. Just an additional data point and words of encouragement for those considering their testing options.
