lopsided SAT

I've got am 800 in reading and a 570 in math. I'm going to be retaking it, and I know i can raise the math (the calculator died), but I know the scores will still be lopsided. What I'm asking is, are lopsided scores a good thing or a bad thing? Will addmissions look at it as depth is english, or a porrly rounded student? So, on test scores alone, will addmissions favor me, or a student with equal total but more equal subscores? Thanks in advance.

If you’re planning on retaking it, go ahead. The SAT math section is not meant to require a calculator, in fact, all of the problems can be done with pencil and paper. I think you will definitely want to take again; this won’t reflect well for admissions. Most college super-score, so your 800 in CR will stay.

Your comment about the SAT Math section is definitely true. However the inconvenience of having to do simply arithmetic manually is slow and uses up time, possibly also leading to errors especially on open ended questions.

I’m sure if college ask you your reason will be valid. However a 570 on the math is still really low regardless of the use of a calculator.

Colleges never ask for reasons!

The math score will hurt at selective colleges. On the bright side, an 800 CR is unusual and a big plus. Take a look at common data sets to get a better feel, but a low CR or math heavily impacts admissions.
