Lose my internship over GPA?

Hey guys,

So I got an internship at a large, prestigious company for next summer. My GPA going into this semester was a 3.0 exactly. Now, when I got the offer, it said it was contingent on a few things, one being that I still have a 3.0 GPA. After this semester, there is a good chance it will fall to a 2.9......Should I consider the internship gone? Should I contact them as soon as I know immediately? Is there any chance they will give me spring semester to increase it back to a 3.0?

Sorry I'm full of questions, but this is a very stressful situation. Thanks

None of us can answer that for you. It is best to contact someone at the company you plan to intern at so you can make alternate summer plans if you need to.

I’ve heard of companies rescinding on 2.98s because of strict corporate rules. Call HR and inquire. They’ll probably allow you the opportunity to bring it up after the next semester.

Better to know now rather than at the last minute.

Are your expected poor grades in STEM classes or non-STEM classes? For hiring decisions (not an intership) our HR dept had a 3.0 cutoff. I had an applicant with the right classes and good grades in them. However, he was so great in the humanities area. I was able to argue with HR and get him. So, it can make a difference which classes.
