Losing Hope

I'm starting to lose hope on getting into UCSB. Its April 5th and it seems like everyone and their mom have already heard whether or not they were accepted. Are my feeling justified? or am I just being impatient?

no news is good news right? look on the bright side, no rejection, so just wait it out.

I feel you, I haven’t heard from anyone and i’m freakin out big time! I know everyone keeps saying be patient be patient, but frankly I dunno how much more of this waiting I can take!

this site holds such a small percentage of applicants that there is no way to measure how many people have actually found out versus still waiting. i am sure their are hundreds, maybe even thousands, in the same boat as you.

i hope so!
they should just release all their admission decisions on ONE DAY! Don’t notify a single applicant until you have decided the fate of the other applicants!

That’s true ssarahs and i agree 100%. Not taking away credit for the kids that got in. Im sure all you guys deserved to get in with good stats and they saw something good in you. However, I feel that if there still making decisions that it puts us in a tight spot and an unfair advantage just due to the fact that the more acceptances we hear from people. The least amount of seats are available. I mean cal poly sent out all the acceptances first, then sent out the rejections all on one day and i happened to be one of them. I think it sucks that the kids who get rejected are the ones that happen to be the ones being the last ones waiting. I just hope we hear something soon.

irvin: “i am sure their are hundreds,”

sweet: “I feel that if there still making decisions…”

ya’lls just got caught SLIPPIN’!

whoa…

“I think it sucks that the kids who get rejected are the ones that happen to be the ones being the last ones waiting.”

^ is this really how thoughts float around in your head?

I am still waiting on UCSB and I am TAG approved…so obviously I am going to get in…its just a matter of when…

don’t worry, just keep acceptance on the mind

i don’t want to get my hopes up though!

Then be neurotic.

pinkerfloyd. When Cal Poly did what they did to the rejected students where they were the last ones to hear, it puts a sense of whether or not all schools will do the same. I still believe that I’ll start hearing soon since its only early April still and im sure that ill hear from all the schools i applied too before I hear from UCLA. You can say whatever you want to say i was just putting my input but im still thinking positive so your wrong about whats swirling in that “little head of mine”

I’m not sure if this helps, but I was a transfer student last year and I didn’t get my acceptance email/letter from UCSB until April 19th and my friend a week after that…so hang in there.

irvin, i didn’t mean the thought itself, only the way it was constructed… or at least ended up in writing.

I wish they would at least tell us when they are going to release the next batch, I don’t see why can’t. I mean I called UCSD’s admissions office and she just said, “oh you will just have to keep checking on our website ok, I’m not allowed to give out that information.” Like seriously…why!!!

@ SSarahS:

It probably wouldn’t be wise for them to release all admissions on the same day. Their server would overload big time. A better idea would be to release all decisions staggered over the course of a week.

i’m pretty sure if UCLA announced that they’re releasing half their decisions as opposed to all their decisions next friday the number of people trying to access the website wouldn’t change.

it’s cool pinkerfloyd, not mad. The one thing about this forum is people over analyzing things and then them taking the wrong way. I was just explaining what i meant in a more defiant way. Just hate this waiting game lol. In the end it all works out though.

SSarahS, how many different schools did you go to? And if you went to more than one, which you take any classes out-of-state? I heard from an admissions counselor @ UCSC that OOS/Overseas stuff really makes the evaluation process an even more slow, train-wreck of a process for certain applicants.
