Losing Scholarship at Indiana?

So I am attending Indiana University in the fall as a Kelley direct admit. I had exactly a 3.7 GPA and got the 5k scholarship. Senior year it looks like my GPA will fall to about 3.67. Could I lose my scholarship that requires at least a 3.7 GPA?

You need to talk to IU about that. Schools have different rules on how they look at that gpa, how they calculate it. Some times it is not calculated the way your school does, but by their own methods. So none of us can say that do not know all of the information and the formula. Also, we don’t know if there is leeway.

I can tell you that, unfortunately, yes, kids do lose their scholarships that are gpa driven when that gpa goes down. Senioritus really can take its toll.

Indiana University does not recalculate the GPA. They award scholarships based off of the school’s calculated GPA- weighted if that is how the school reports it. I’m not sure if they round up or not though.

I doubt you’d lose it at THIS point. You were awarded based on grades from 9-11 (and maybe first semester senior year???, but maybe not).

Unless the award says that you must graduate with that GPA, I doubt IU would take it away at this point.

that said, you need to find out what GPA is needed to KEEP it as a college student.

I have never heard of that happening to high school students. I’ve heard of cases where admission has been revoked, but not scholarship awards. I’m not saying that it never happens, but I just haven’t seen any posts about loss of scholarships because of senior grades.

I went back and looked at my daughter’s acceptance letter from IU and it indicates that the scholarship/admission offer was based off of stats at the time of review and is contingent upon successfully courses as outlined in the application.

I would call them.
