Losing Weight and maintaining grades Junior year

I want to start shedding pounds at a gradual rate. My plan is to exercise for an hour 6pm-7pm) each day. School and around 2:45ish and most programs end around 3:45-4. If I take an hour and a half for regular homework, then use that 1 hour block for exercising, then use the rest to do AP homework, eat and rest, will I be able to sustain everything?

If anyone on CC has lost weight, can you give any tips? I can’t afford expensive foods so the most I can do is fruits and veggies from the local shop. I would reveal my size I guess I'm not as comfortable as I thought I was. But let’s just say for conversation sakes I have a lot of weight to lose.

I need a balance of both. The horrible part is if my grades slip because I am concerning to much about my health, my chances at certain schools decrease. On the other hand, if my grades improve and my weight increases, there will not be a future to think about.

Weight loss is mainly diet. My sis lost five pounds in two weeks just watching what she eats, so just exercise on the side, focus on good meals, and study.

Losing weight would not have a negative impact on your grades. Studies have shown that overweight people have decreased cognitive ability.

But I agree with Tenors, it is mostly diet and a little exercise. Eat 1,500 calories a day.

I disagree it depends on what kind person you are. For some people it is more about exercising

PS I will be doing the same thing

I actually eat way less healthy at school. My brother is diabetic and my mom is a health nut, so everything in our house is sugar-free/whole-wheat/organic/lowfat/low-glycemic index what have you. But exercise can definitely do a lot, especially at this age. I joined a gym, but honestly if you just run daily [or at least 4-5 times a week] you could probably get in decent shape.

^ I can run everyday. Thanks for all the advice. I think I will do fine. I just have to keep up with it.

You need to exercise period. There is no reason why your grades should fall if you only are taking an hour a day to exercise. You are not using your time wisely. Weight loss due to working out will give you more energy.

I lost 40 pounds junior year. I was in this basketball program and the coach made us run and do drills. Plus I played basketball like 4 times a week at least.

You could do it  I also stopped drinking too much soda.

Thanks everyone. I’ve been eating healthier, cutting out chips and candy but I have to work on the chocolate chip cookies. I stopped drinking soda months ago. School starts Thursday but I’m going to begin running or jogging for an hour this week.
