Anyone here losing weight instead of gaining? I know it's supposed to be the other way around, but with all of the studying, club activities, and trying to make time for social life...I find myself skipping meals a lot. I lost about 10 pounds this semester...

Don’t worry, it’ll all come back after winter break. I starved myself freshman year too because dorm food was crazy horrible (opinion). Then I ate like mad during breaks at home.

Haha yeah, I don’t know how much exactly but I’ve gone down a pant size. The dorm food just isn’t my thing. When I go home I’m like a monster in the kitchen.

I just got home for break and I am going nuts for food! I eat everything in the fridge!!! Some nice homemade Korean food has never tasted any better…

I think that happens to a lot of freshmen…some gain weight, but some lose it as well. All part of living in a new place, I presume.

I gained a bunch of weight (like 15 pounds) over freshman year because I had a really stupid schedule (and therefore eating schedule), but I’ve lost about 25 pounds this semester (being poor and having to cook your own food does wonders) so I’m happy I feel like I’ve gotten used to eating less so I don’t think I’ll gain much weight over winter break.

I always tend to eat too much at dining halls since it’s a buffet, and most of the time it’s at night…

My mom thinks I lost a couple pounds, but I don’t think so. Everything all my clothes still fit the same as it did when I went to college, and I eat about the same there as I do at home…she also thinks I got slightly taller, but then she measured me and I’m the same, so I think she’s just seeing things differently since I haven’t been at home, idk.

My pant size shrunk from 32 to 30…

I’ve been losing a few pounds, even though I really love the dorm food. I’m not quite sure how…

I was surprised too. I’m usually considered pretty skinny (and people have asked whether or not I have an eating disorder before) but I lost about 8 pounds in the first two weeks of college. After two weeks, I had to start wearing clothes I had last worn in middle school, since none of my jeans fit right without a significant belt. In the end, I ended up gaining it all back. I attributed my weight loss to 1) homesickness 2) dislike of dorm food, and 3) a lot more walking around on campus than I was used to. I started keeping my favorite snacks around more often, and closer to my desk (wheat thins, peanut butter, and fruit snacks) and the weight eventually came back.

I’ve lost a few pounds, which is bad since I’m already 10-15 lbs. underweight (though that’s normal for me since I’ve always been underweight. I was even born underweight). I think it’s because I’ve been depressed, and when I’m depressed, I have no appetite at all.

Yeah, my freshman year I’d say I gained about 10 lbs, then lost it all that summer/over the course of sophomore year, then this semester (1st semester junior year), I’ve lost 10 more pounds on top of it. I just don’t really have an appetite anymore so I usually only eat 1 big meal a day and some snacks later at night. It’s weird weighing less than I did my senior year of high school, but it’s definitely not uncommon to lose weight.

During my freshman year, I lost 60lb. My pants size went down from 40 to 32.

What happened is that I found a new hobby in cycling. I was a sedentary person beforehand and ate just enough food to maintain my weight. However, I enjoyed biking so much that I actually became more active than average. Eating only slightly more than before, I lost weight really quickly. It was so fast that I went in for a checkup just to ensure that nothing’s awry.

That was one of my big surprises in life. :)

I just study a lot if you get where I’m going with that… haha, just kidding.

Not at UVA… The food is horrible, everything is hilly and pretty far away and everyone is into fitness so you feel obligated to go to the gym. Lost 10 pounds, now more underweight than before haha

I go to UVA too and plue00 is 100% correct.

i dont work out much or anything but freshman year i lost bout 40 pounds, lost prolly 60 total since i entered college.

i just dont eat often.
