If you are on LI, Headfirst has a baseball showcase the first week of August. Tons of D3 schools in attendance. May be worth your time.

Does anyone else have any suggestions for school that are middle to large and I might be a good fit at. Just incase baseball doesn’t work out.

also gpa is unwieghted and my school is a little above average but not realy top in the state or anything like that.

Anyone else???

ndfbfan, Do you plan on retaking your SAT? Have you also taken the ACT? Take both in case you do better on one over the other. Try retaking it to see if you can improve your score. When I came across this thread, I’m thinking well, if you really want to play D3 baseball, maybe you might want to call Chapman University athletic to see if you can qualify. They’ve just finished their D3 baseball Championship and came in 2nd place so they’ve got a pretty strong team. Chapman is an excellent private school located in Orange, Calif., but they are more competitive academically. To give you an idea, their freshmen class of 2010 profile: Average GPA 3.712, Average SAT Score 1850. If you think you might be interested, give their athletic department a call. Good luck.

I’m retaking the sat with out a doubt. This time around I am getting a tutor to realy help me study the right way.

Yea I was reading about them on the d3 baseball website. My only question is that given my gpa I’m not sure if I would be able to get in. Im kind of trying to figure out how much a coach can help to get me into the school. If anyone has info on that please let me know.

Try contacting the admission counselor. They are very helpful. They will give you some very good advice. Let them know that you are very interested. Chapman also looks for talent as well as academics. Here’s their link.
thanks for the help!!! My only problem is that im kind of trying to stay on the east coast. So if there is any schools that are the equivilent (i cant spell lol) of that on the east coast please add your input.!!!

Have you tried using the College Confidential Super Match for your college search? Try using their tool to see if you can find a match. Another option would be to go to the NCAA Division III baseball link to find the region that you’d be interested in attending and use their list of D3 baseball teams to help you search on CC. There are other sources such as the USNWR and the Princeton Review best fit school search features to help you locate a match. They also include the school’s profile and admission data such as GPA, SAT or ACT scores along with the selectivity of each school.

Here’s the NCAA D3 baseball link. Hope this helps.

That is very helpful thanks for all you help

Bump anyone else

I would strongly recommend a year of community college for a year and then transfer to the best state schools that you can get accepted to. State schools, even the less selective ones, are generally better than similarly selective private schools.

That is pure nonsense. There are some great state schools, to be sure, but there are some equally good private schools with similar selectivity. Each type of school has a role to play.

There are a TON of medium sized Catholic universities around the country. I believe that graduating from a Catholic HS would give you a slight boost, too.

I’m really trying to stay away from community college. I am not interested in giving up the experience of going away school freshman year. Also what are some of the catholic schools on the east coast. Around my area there’s dominican college, stac, manhattenville, Manhattan, and st johns But I’m wanting to kind of get away/ out of state

bump???

Try St. Joes in Philly and temple university.
