Lost at UCSB

Anyone else feel nervous that they wont be able to find their classes on the first day of school? i could barely find manzanita village on the map even though thats where orientation was (my sense of direction sucks i know) -___-

If you want to find me at sb, just look for the clueless guy walking on the bike path while looking at a map stopping random strangers for directions lol.

…We have a few days after we move in before class starts. I’m sure you’ll do fine once you find your classes the first time.

Im nervous about exactly the same thing lol dont worry youre not alone! I’ll probably just use the days before that thursday to make sure where my classes are.

Ive been here for a year (on sept 15th) & i still dont know my way around… people are cool tho, if they see you looking at those large billboard/map things then someone (twice) has asked if i needed help finding anything. Turns out the LSB is NOT the “Letters & Science Building” it actually stands for the “Life Sciences Building.” Sweaty & late to my first class on the first day of fall quarter, couldn’t imagine a better start to a new year.

it’s my fourth year here and i still don’t know where everything is.

just give yourself extra time to get to lecture on the first day & print out your schedule and a map.

^^that scares me.

I wasn’t too worried about it at first because I thought I could use the first few days to explore and find out where everything is…but i guess a few days isn’t enough lol

awww that’s adorable. It’s not too confusing, but the maps are a little confusing. Like, they make it look like Ellings hall is suuuper far away from the DLG when it’s really not too bad.

the campus isnt very big at all. it’s hard to get lost once you know where a few of the buildings are, especially when you have a map…and i dont even go there yet…

the key is to know your north/south/east/west…like if youre near elings hall and you face away from the ocean, you are facing west

I wrote a set of tips you can see at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-california-los-angeles/384364-some-tips-succeeding-ucla-2007-edition.html</a> and pretty much all of it applies to UCSB too. And tip #2 is to walk to your classes before school starts so you know where they are. You might find some other useful tips for you in it as well.
