How do i know when to start applications?

I live in Arizona so if i have a 1670 sat score will i automaticaly get in at ASU, NAU and UofA.

I think there’s some kind of misunderstanding here. No, they can’t stop you from applying to out-of-state colleges.

Each college has an application deadline, usually in January or February. The Common Application for Fall 2012 is already available, so check online for any other applications you’ll need and start thinking about essay topics. Start early and give yourself plenty of time to write, then let it sit, then revise. You will also need teacher recommendations, and you want to ask for these EARLY.

Definitely talk to your counselor and ask about application process timelines. He or she will help clear the fog.

That’s a heinous accusation for someone to make. It’s absurd as well. Of course you can apply to out-of-state colleges!

The poster above hit the nail on the head. The Common App is already online at commonapp.org, and I’m sure other schools’ applications will become available by September at latest.

I honestly don’t know one way or the other. I’d say talk to your GC, but with the whole “you can’t apply to out-of-state schools” threat…I’m really not sure. Maybe call the admissions office or look at the schools’ websites?
