Lost hope at Ivies??

I already for rejected from Yale SCEA, Stanford, MIT, and UChicago. Do I stand any chance at all for the rest of the Ivies???

I know this is a really difficult period of time to go through, but remember – and I’ve said this to a bunch of other users here on CC, as well as senior friends (I’m a junior) – it’s not over until it’s over! You never know; the fact is simply that different colleges are looking to fill their classes with different sorts of people every year. Perhaps your talents and personal qualities did not match up to what those schools were looking for this year, but that absolutely does not detract from their overall value, and – who knows – they might just match up to what your other schools are looking for! I’m confident that you’ll end up at a great place. :)

We need to know your stats for determination tbh… I mean you could be a 2.6 gpa 1920 sat student or something like me that doesnt stand a chance.

^ From what I recall from the OP’s chances thread, s/he actually has very solid stats.

Haha I’ve bothered CC with chances threads before (and I am sorry for them. I’ve realized they are very annoying) but here are my qualifications again

And yes I did apply to all the rest of the Ivies…I’m crazy like that lol

^^ If anything, that resume’s definitely a lot longer than mine. o.o

maybe your resume is a bit too this-and-that?(and not really focused)
and if your ethnicity is Korean (I hope I’m right), the stats are a bit too low
average stats for Asians are always way higher than those for other ethnicities
– meaning that for Asians, in many cases, high stats are usually a necessity.
an admissions officer from an Ivy League (I think it was Columbia) once told me that they use stats (mostly SAT scores) to rank Asian candidates whose resumes don’t have much difference.

You have a chance. It’s about 1:10 for everyone who applies to the Ivies, because most people who apply have great stats…Your chances may be more like 1:4, but no one is 100%.Hang in there, good luck, and don’t despair!

The Ivy fixation is ridiculous. Does anyone really believe that Brown, Penn, Cornell, Dartmouth, and Columbia are any better than Johns Hopkins, Northwestern, Chicago, Duke, or Vanderbilt? In fact, for some disciplines the latter group are the equals of the vaunted “HPY”. Add MIT, Stanford to this and anyone intelligent and talented enough to be accepted at any of them has nothing to feel bad about.
