Lost in UVA essay topic. Help needed?

so as you guys know, UVA’s topic for college of liberal art and science is: What work of art, music, science, mathematics, or literature has surprised, unsettled, or challenged you, and in what way?

Do you think that practical work can count as a “work of science”? I want to write about my experience at open heart surgery field trip but I don’t know if that would fit in this topic.

Or should I write about hypokalemic periodic paralysis? I researched for my AP biology class and it relates with my grandmother’s disease…

idk anymore…guys help?

I think the first one could relate; I’d consider a piece of technology or a medical technique to be a “work” because it’s something that’s done / made.

I kinda have a question about this prompt too. I selected my major as Biology in the common app. Does that mean I should’ve done my essay on a work of science? I did it on a work of literature instead. Will that affect my chances at all?

@ioleggoitaliano Nope you’re fine! The essay was about something that challenged you, not necessarily related to your major.
