Lost. Need help!

Hello, I'm a Canadian high school student wanting to go to the U.S. for college/university. I'm interested in Social Science courses like Criminal Justice or Criminology. However, I will not be doing my SAT1 test until late January. Will that be too late if I want to apply for a college/university during September 2013? I still want to apply for universities that don't require SAT test score just in case. I'm looking at New York University and University of Mississippi. I've heard that these schools do not need SAT testing?

Now my marks aren't that good. I haven't taken any Mathematics. That's why it might be a problem when I'm doing the SAT test. I will need to get a tutor for that. However, I get mid to high 80's in courses like Geomatics, Environmental Studies, World Issues, and Law. My English mark is only at low 70's. Does this effect an international student like me to be enrolled in a college/university negatively?

Thanks!

January won’t be too late to take the SAT if you are applying in the fall of 2013 to begin in 2014. I think NYU does require SAT tests but I’m not sure. Bates in Maine is SAT optional but it’s a liberal arts school where you could certainly take sociology courses but probably not many specifically criminology courses. There is probably a thread on SAT optional courses.
