lost

So I'm taking this semester off, which is a big risk (especially as far as my parents financing my education is concerned because they are not too happy), but I'm already a little ahead of the game in terms of credits, and if I take courses next semester at my school (University of Wisconsin - Madison), I will be a senior and doubt that anyone will accept my transfer application.

I don't even know what schools to apply to, to be honest. I just want a more open-minded, diverse, and academically focused environment with less partying.

Like I said, I attend UW. I'm a math and philosophy major. My GPA is a 3.255 (I did not do as well my first two semesters, but once I began taking philosophy classes, I've received mostly A's. My GPA last semester was a 3.763 and I was in mostly 400-500 level courses and the previous semester was similar).

My SAT's are pretty blah. I last took them my junior year of high school and received a 570 verbal (which I definitely know now I could significantly improve) and a 710 math. I went to a pretty good suburban high school, took most all AP and honors courses that I could, got a 3.72 GPA.

Does anyone have any idea of any schools I could apply to? I just would really like a more diverse/open-minded student body, liberal, and more academically focused. Thanks for taking the time to read this. Sorry this is so long, I'm just nervous because I can't believe I'm dropping out for a semester.

You may want to compile a list of universities you are interested in, and then speak to the admissions counselors for each school to find out their transfer guidelines. Some colleges are very adamant in the fact that they won't accept applications from students with more than X number of credits, and others are more lenient.

i took a semester off before transferring. best decision i ever made in my life.

It's never too late to transfer although UW is not a bad fallback at all you are in a win win situation if you transfer out into a school with your qualifications then that's great but if you dont you still have UW to go back to so apply because honestly you have nothing to lose.
