Pitt student dies in dormitory | The Pitt News

How tragic! My heart goes out to his family. I can’t imagine getting that call.

This is beyond awful. My heart and prayers go out to his family.

Very sad. So sorry for his family and friends.

Very sad. I wonder what happened?

I will find out later . My daughter has a friend in Lothrop.

My daughter is in Lothrop. She has been told that it was an obvious suicide.

Terrible tragedy. Very sad.

What a shame for his loved ones. If only young people would seek help. My heart just aches when I hear these things.

Words can’t even begin to describe the sadness. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to the family. To say it’s sad is a complete understatement. All we can say is that the student and his/her family are in our thoughts and prayers.

This could happen to any one of our children. I can’t even grasp how terrible this is for the family.

I think that freshmen are especially vulnerable. They are often overwhelmed, have difficulty fitting in or engage in dangerous behaviors. It would be great if schools offered some sort of professional mentorship or formal friend relationship in those early months to identify students at risk, especially since those kids often don’t seek out help on their own.

Has anyone else noticed that this is the 3rd on campus suicide in as many years at Pitt? What steps if any could the university take to prevent similar incidences?
