Lots of people putting down deposits at multiple schools?

I am hearing a lot of chatter among friends (parents) that they are going to put down deposits at 2, 3 or even 4 colleges. I believe the main reason is that their kids have not had a chance to visit some or all of their options.

Just curious if/how colleges are accounting for this.
