ACT tips: Don't worry too much or get stressed out. When you are done with a test, just relax. Stay "in the zone"- focused... ALL THE TIME! pay attention to grammar on the English, and you should have 10+ minutes to go over your English. I have problems with English, as I have a subscore of 27. Math, just give it your best shot. You are only a sophomore, and you won't know how to do every problem on there yet. I'm a junior in pre-calc and I still had a few where I threw a random guess out there. So far I've gotten subscores of 28 and 29 on math. Just don't spend more than a minute and a half on tough ones, and really re-read the problems, sometimes the first process that pops in to your head is more complicated than the quickest one. It makes you feel really dumb if you spent 2 minutes on a problem that could have been easily done in 10 seconds had you actually read the whole question. Math is tricky like that. Reading, it really varies for me. The first time I took it, I got a 32 subscore, second time was a 25. Yeah... variable. I dont know about you, but I am not a super-fast reader, so I have to skim the section, then do the questions. That all depends on your style. Science is easy. You claim to have a high score on that already, and I can see why. If you just read the graphs, you can easily answer 90% of the questions. The other 10% can be tricky, and only because of short amount of time given. I got a 34. Thats 1 wrong. About the ASVAB, I don't think they require it for the academy, but it is good test practice. It probably doesn't look bad if you do well on it however. If you need anything more, feel free to ask. I too am pulling for you - just stay focused on raising that GPA. You are definately on that right path though. Good Luck!

A minor point about the ACT. There is no penalty for guessing, so be sure to fill in everything even randomly if you run out of time. SAT penalizes for guessing by counting off one point for each four wrong answers. So only guess on the SAT if you can eliminate one or more of the possible answers. That will up the odds for you. However, errors on the gridded answers do not draw a penalty (but gessing on them probably won't do you much good either).

thank you all! I am learning alot about the ACT in the book I have now. Even how to use correct grammer, a vital portion of my ACT because I do weak in it. I am now in 2 clubs, and in track. I will get my varsity letter next year in Cross Country and Track... So I am hopeing that helps. Plus I realise if I study a little bit my 132 IQ helps me retain things in my memory easily. I am taking Advanced Marine Biology Collage Prep. and so far am doing good in it. Right now I get home at 3, and study and do homework untill 9:00. I am serious about getting in. It would be a huge dream come true for me, and a great education. Thank you all for helping if there are any help you can give me go for it. I have an open mind! I do have a question, how do you know when to use whom or who? They sound the same to me...

You don't do good in something, you do well...

You usually use it after a preposition...

To whom are you sending the letter?

Who is on the phone?

P.S. The English section is the easy to work on. I raised my English score 6 points to give me 28E, 29M, 25R, and 28S; the academy counts subscores so that will give me an average of 28 (also the average at the USAFA). I only scored a 26 on my first ACT, and a 27 on the 2nd, but the USAFA views that as a 28. I'm taking it one more time in spring and I'm shooting for a 29 composite. Good luck!

I am going through the steps, first test in the ACT is enlgish, and i just took a practice test, and missed none of the questions. That is deffinitly promissing. I have found out, since our school is full of snotty rich millionair kids, we have free online tutoring by people from the state collage, the school has a great deal of money and is paying them. So I am doing all I can to get my math up and will use tutors to help! I am most defninitly planning on getting my GPA up to atleast a 3.0 it will be hard but so is running track, if I tell myself I can enough, I will be able to.

That's the way things get done in life. Keep it up!
