Lots of questions

Hi all I will be transferring to UCR in the fall and I have several questions:
1. How do i get a parking permit? Do i have to show up in person to Parking Services to purchase one?
2. How many units are considered "standard"? Is taking 17 units too much? The classes I am planning to take are math146a, math149a, econ102, and math120 or ETST12 (whichever is open).
3. On average, how much is your monthly expenses (housing, food, entertainment,...etc)?
Thanks alot in advance.

1) you can purchase it online ([UCR VCA: Transportation And Parking Services](http://www.parking.ucr.edu/))
2) 12 units/3 classes is the minimum
17 should be fine. most people either take 3 or 4. if you take four just make sure you manage your time well.
3) housing could cost anywhere from 300 to 800… depending where you live. 300 = sharing room with a person. 800 for school owned apartments (unless it’s even more expensive now). If you drive, you can find a room in a house for about 400 to 600.

Food depends on you. I don’t have to pay because my parents grocery shop for me… and I just bring it back to cook. They buy a week’s food for me every week for under $25. If you eat out, then $25 can probably only get you 3 meals.

I have a question about purchasing the parking permit.
what is the student business services account?

i really don’t know. im waiting til 8/30 to get my permit… ):

weird…when i go to the website…it says “No customer information was found…blah…blah…” guess I’ll have to call them…
Oh yea…thanks Jen!

Rent for me $739/month
Units I take is usually 16-19 units (whatever 4 classes comes out to be)

Expenses: Budget yourself a little more than necessary for your first month or two and then by living somewhat comfortably over that month or two you’ll have an idea of how much you’ll be okay with.

Unfortunately for me I can’t really set a budget, it’s more or less when my dad decides he can drop some money into my account. Some months are more comfortable than others. I’ve gone a month with $200 before though, just didn’t go anywhere or buy anything besides groceries and a few meals out.
