LOTS to ask regarding CHEM6AH & CHEM6 series

alright so I came in with a 5 on my AP chem exam and I was recommended to take CHEM6AH.
Will I get credits for taking CHEM6AH? Is it worth taking it? like workload and stuff

However I was thinking about taking CHEM6B (using my AP credit to skip CHEM6A) this fall. Is it a good idea?

BILD1 has a prereq which is CHEM6A and if I skip CHEM6A using my AP credit, do you think I will be able to take CHEM6B and BILD1 together? (they must be taken concurrently)

I also want to go to medical school and they require like a year of general chem, so my AP credit won't count BUT I'm still not sure about going to medical school yet. Should I take
CHEM6B and then go back to CHEM6A later just to get a letter grade on my transcript (when I am definitely sure about going to med school)?
I mean taking Chem6B in fall, 6C in winter, and 6A sometime later. Is it possible to do so?

Do medical schools look at CHEM6A and CHEM6AH differently? like to they care about the rigor of my classes? or should I just go for the easier one and get a better grade?

ok so these are my plans:
1. Take CHEM6AH, then probably CHEM6BH in winter if I do well this fall, if not then CHEM6B
2. Take CHEM6B in fall, then CHEM6C, then CHEM6A later if I am down for going to a medical school.
3. just forget about the AP credits and take CHEM6A w/o credits, CHEM6B, 6C

any recommendations?

if you got a 5 on the AP chem exam, you pass out of CHEM 6A, B, AND C. You can’t take CHEM 6B for credit, but you can take it just for the letter grade on your transcript.

ok so AP credits exempt me from CHEM6A,6B, AND 6C?
then what are other routes to take?

Ochem or honor chem series

if your planning on med school, you might be in trouble since a year of chemistry is required and honor chem is ridiciously hard!!! but the curve is generous. I heard you need 35% to get an A

Is it weird if I don’t take any CHEM6 in my freshmen year?
because I’m still not sure about med school and stuff.
and Is it weird if I come back to take CHEM6A,6B,6C later as a junior?(for no credit)

my friend A was a senior and took 6ABC all during winter quarter. she’s a pediatrics resident now.

think about it: if med schools admit post-bacs, they really don’t care when you did your requirements, as long as you did them somewhat recently and you did them well.

I don’t think medical schools will really care about the rigor of the classes - from what I’ve heard/read, getting a higher GPA is more important. So I wouldn’t take the honors Chem series just because you think it might look better to med schools than the non-honors series. If I were you, I would sign up for and attend the first few lectures of Chem 6AH and Chem 6B, and let that help you decide if either one is worth taking now. And if you think you can handle the increased rigor of 6AH, I say go for it!

(FYI, I took the Chem 6H series 6 years ago and don’t regret it)
