So after taking many of my lower div classes I think I want to be an MCB major - CDB. I really like MCB as a subject and think that cells are really fascinating and think it would be the best fit for me. The thing is...well I'm so scared that some of the classes (MCB 104,133L) will be so hard that it will kill my GPA to the point that I can't go to any professional school (fyi NOT med school). So what should I do? Go for something I love, but is really hard and can hurt my GPA or go for Nutrisci which is probably easier. Don't get me wrong I like Nurisci a lot and is probably my top 2 or 3 majors, but I don't love as much as CDB.

Question: are you thinking about CDB: Physiology or CDB: Cell Bio?

Also, for optometry, nursing, pharmacy, or a few others, some schools require IB 132L. This class is very hard to get into if you are not IB. Also, if you are are CDB: Physio you will not be allowed to take it, because MCB 136 blocks credit for IB 132.

do it! 10 char

I plan on taking 132L over summer since its way too hard for a non-IB to do it during the school year. I also want to do the Cell biology track so I wont be taking 136.

then go ahead with CDB:CB and take IB 131L and 132L over the summers.

On a side note given that you will need to take 131/L and 132/L anyways, doing a double major with IB might be worth your while, as it will only be two additional courses. MCB is 6 courses total, IB is 6 courses total; MCB 102 and 104 would overlap and count for both majors, and IB 131/L and 132/L would count for IB, reducing the “IB addition” to 2 courses (PM me if you are confused or want more details).

It will save you money from having to take 131L and 132L during summer session and it will give you priority TeleBEARS

I was thinking about double major IB/MCB but that seems like it’s gonna lower my gpa as if it weren’t low enough…

Oh thanks, but If I do double I want to have at least one major be in my home college. CNR <3!
