Low ACT Score

Just got my act score today.

C:29
E:28
M:35
R:25
S:28

I'm an International Student. I am aiming for the Ivy Leagues. This is the first time that i taking the test. I am deeply disappointed. Should i not consider applying to Stanford EA ? Plz help me out. thank u.

Wow I am in exactly the same position as you (except my ACT is 32, superscored 34). Even I am pondering on whether to apply for Stanford EA :P. It really depends on your essays and gpa + virtually everything else - standardised tests only get you in the ballpark. (at least that’s what I’ve heard and been told by my college counsellor.

So you are senior and you just got your first ever ACT score?
Unless you have something else really amazing on your application, you should try to improve your score and apply RD of you really want to try Stanford.

I come from a extremely poor family. I cannot afford to pay the act fees. fee waivers are not available to international students. should i just state this in my essay and apply to stanford ?

@billcsho: Will they even look at my application ? I couln’t buy any test preparation materials and i had to leave a few questions in the main test. it was extremely fast.

This is the sad state of my store. plz tell me what to do ?

I have good grades, gpa, ec’s.

It’d be really hard to get into Stanford with a 29.
If there is no possible way to afford it, send it ED.

Test score is important but not as important as Grades. If you say you have good grades then I say go for it. People with 1850s in the SATs but with good grades get in. But be sure to mention the not being able to afford the test and stuff in your application. Good luck !!

A 29 isn’t a low score at all, but it is for an Ivy leauge school.

Can I self report my October ACT (if I take it) to Stanford. Will they accept it for the Early Action ?

doodoodle yes, the ACT score is low but don’t worry.
