My S got As in the two AP classes but received a 3 and 2 on the AP tests. He works hard in school but he is not a good exam taker. Do we need to submit the AP scores to college? Will not submitting the test scores affect his chance of getting into competitive schools?

Bumpp… i have the same question my self

Unless the school requires it, (and most5 do not) you do not have to report your scores. Most schools dont even use them in the admissions process, they just use them for placement purposes.

I don’t think you need to submit AP scores at all, particularly when they are poor. If you do, it will even make the adcom feel your school has lenient grades. In most case, you cannot even get credit with low AP scores anyway. We don’t even submit AP scores of 5s unless the school asks for it or after you decided to enroll.

Submitting nothing is an option, but D’s college advisor stated that 1 or 2 is a no-no, don’t submit, 3 is neutral, submit, and 4 or 5 is a plus if they use it.

Just another opinion.
