Low ap scores

I recently got my ap scores back and their not good(3 was my highest) I know they are terrible and I was planning on applying as a transfer to an Ivy League or similar. How bad do these ap scores affect my ability to transfer? I do plan on applying as a business major when I transfer(but my calculus score couldn’t have been lower). If I keep a 4.0 in college for the first year will I still have a chance at an ivy or similar.

AP scores aren’t used for college admission. They are used to award credit for college classes or advanced placement into a higher level course once you are in college. If you check the websites of your target institutions, you may very well find out that you would need a 5 in order to get credit or placement, or that even a 5 does you no good.

So a low ap score isn’t really going to affect my chances to transfer?

Ivy/elite schools are not known for accepting many transfers. But, no your APs will have little to no bearing. You may ask yourself if you are ready for an Ivy atmosphere with 3s on AP exams though.

Tbh the ap exams I took were for ap classes I weren’t really interested in I was one of those kids who thought taking all the ap classes would impress colleges(didn’t work out btw lol) which is the reason for low ap scores.

I wouldn’t compare your ability to take on college to AP scores. Most kids I know check out when AP test season rolls around especially when you’re a senior.
