Hi everyone. Searched the board, couldn't find a situation quite like mine.

I'm a linguistics major, and I think my linguistics GPA will end up being quite a bit lower than my cumulative GPA because in my major "core" sequence (phonology, syntax, semantics) I got Bs. I have gotten As in all of my other linguistics courses.

However, my cumulative GPA is higher than my major GPA not just because of gen-ed classes, but also because of a) foreign language classes, all As, and b) several of classes in the psychology department about language and communication, in which I got As but which don't count as part of my major GPA.

If I go to grad school I hope to study psycholinguistics, making both my major courses and my psychology classes relevant coursework. In this context, will my relatively lower linguistics GPA be as much of a "red flag" as it would otherwise? Will adcoms take into account my psychology grades as well as my linguistics grades, thus improving my record?

It's also worth noting that I have a serious upward trend going--will the major courses I took my junior and senior years count for more than that core sequence that I kind of messed up sophomore year?

Thanks for any responses, folks. :)
