Colleges I'm thinking about: Northeastern, BU, Rutgers, NYU, U of Rochester

GPA: 3.2 UW, 3.4W
SAT: 2010 (only taken once so far) Math: 790 CR: 620 Writing: 600
SATII: Math II - 800, Math I - 800
AP's: Chem - 4, Bio - 3, Stat - 4
Senior Courseload: AP Physics C, AP Micro/Human Geography, AB Calc
EC's: practically none worth mentioning, I've learned Calc I and Calc II independently if that helps, I plan to be a math tutor next (senior) year
Intended Majors: Mathematics, Economics (I would like to dual major math and econ if possible)

You have a good shot at all of them, except NYU.

Follow up question: Will applying Early Action have any effect on acceptance?

More than good shot, great shot. Apply to a few reaches too

You do need an ec or 2

I think NYU is a good reach, I may also apply to Johns Hopkins as a super reach and also UC Berkeley

I think you’re in a good position because of your math Sat score. A 790 is pretty rare and that may make you stand out if you want to go into mathematics or economics.

thanks I plan on taking the SAT one or two more times, i think ill be able to get an 800 on math which will look even better

" and also UC Berkeley"

This is UCLA profile of admitted freshman.

Berkeley is similar. Click on a-g for requirement details.

If you are interested in moving to North Carolina I would suggest applying to UNC Chapel Hill. Its an extremely good school. I would say just as good as UC Berkeley. Chapel Hill is a great college town and who doesnt love the Tar Heels?!

Actually I was considering UNC Charlotte as a safety since my dad lives in that area. Chapel Hill seems like a good reach for me though. Also, should I add a safety school(probably Charlotte) just in case? I don’t really have any right now.

I would say Northeastern, NYU, and possibly even Rochester are reaches because of your low GPA, low SAT Reading/Writing scores, and lack of ECs.

Rutgers is a Low Match, would be a safety if your reading/writing SAT and GPA were a bit higher.

These schools are definitely within reach, but are also very competitive. (except Rutgers) Get your other SAT section scores up to the high 600’s and you’ll have a lot more options such as UNC Chapel Hill

Also make sure to throw in a safety or two.

As always on CC, a 1500 is the average sat score, 2010 is well beyond that…
