Hi
I graduated from USC with a crappy 3.1gpa (major GPA: 2.85, BS in business)
and I have a GRE score of 1450. M:750 V:700.
I am considering Economics or statistics for graduate school.
However, my gpa for math is worse than my overall gpa. It is somewhere around 2.5. I know I am bad... Whereas my gpa for econ is about 3.3.
Will I have a chance at any of the IVYs? and Can you guys recommend me schools which like high GRE scores? Thank you.

Why just ivy? Regardless, you profile looks pretty bad for admission to any economic grad school as they care a lot about math course GPAs. You might be able to squeak into an ok stat Masters program though.

Low gpa is an alarm bell.

You should consider doing your MA first if it's the PhD that you're seeking. It'll give you a chance to bring up your GPA and prove to grad schools that you can do the work- including math. You may want to re-take some of the math courses...

A 3.1 isn't good but a major GPA below 3 is just aweful.

I have to agree with ticklemepink.

Graduate school level econ is very math-oriented. Your 2.5 in those math courses won't look good at all.
