Low GPA and Wharton ED Thread!

Guys let's get pumped! Everyone who has 3.7 unweighted or less (and possibly a >10% unofficial/official rank in school) POST HERE

I'll start. 3.55 unweighted 4.33 weighted... school doesn't rank...
2340 SAT *** ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

3.62 Uw/ 4.33 W
No ranks
2340 SAT

Ahhhh so anxious :/

lol we have the exact same weighted and sat score that’s just crazy xD

Does a 3.79UW / 4.24W count? x_x

Get off this thread!!! LOL xD Rank?

2.43 uw/ 2.43 w

1440 sat

IMO, technically anything below 3.8 UW is low for Penn.

This is false. Particularly if you factor in course rigor/grade deflation.
@haloshots:

As a friend of mine once said, has anyone ever gotten laid by ■■■■■■■■?

Lol, I like how you say that with so much assertiveness. How would you know that?

For selective colleges, especially Wharton, if you have a 3.8 you’re on the edge. Look at any Result Thread and you’ll see.

@meadow36 - I have. And quite a few people from my school have gotten into wharton with sub 3.8s. They were above 3.7s though (other than the URMs)

Besides, the fact of the matter is, if you’re a 4.0… you’re still on the edge :)

I guess it depends. The lowest anyone from my school has ever got in ED is a 3.8. And I’d say we’re pretty competitive.

Oh wait average is 4.53, so I’m guessing that’s weighted?

Again, though, it really depends on school. The * average * from my school is below 3.7 (3.68), and there’s a few in there hovering just above 3.

^exactly. It’s all about grade inflation/deflation, be it “macroeconomic” (your school) or “microeconomic” (rigor of your schedule) :p

yeah, basically rank matters along with GPA, the two are really inseperable. A 5.0 means nothing if it puts you as 65 out of 300 at a school.

89.7 (3.56) unweighted, 98.7 (4.0/4.1) weighted.
top 22%, 32 ACT
took the most rigorous curriculum offered (no one takes what i did), asian from maine, extenuating circumstances soph + jr year

What is a 97.444 unweighted on the 4.0 scale?

I’m a little worried because even though I’m Val. this year, for years before me, the vals all had like 99 something unweighted averages. Last year’s val went to Hamilton, the year before MIT, and the year before that to Dartmouth and the year before that Cornell… I guess you can say that my school isn’t THAT competitive then (we haven’t sent anyone to HYPS in a decade or longer) Will that count against me for when I’m applying to Wharton?

Good luck to all my fellow low GPA-ers!

Hope to see you all in Huntsman come September. Got my fingers crossed for all of us!

^lol I like how all of us low GPA’ers are Wharton applicants… of all schools…

    :)

Oh wow. That guy is pretty lucky. I’m more hopeful now!

A 3.79UW at our school is pretty darn low… I’d say around rank 50/450.
There are 3 other UPenn ED applicants from our school. But they are applying to JF and other programs… it’s really mediocre for me ;( Oh well!
