Low GPA Better Test Scores

I have a 2.6 GPA because of bad freshman & sophmore years. I got a 29 on my ACT & am extrememly involved with our Civic Service & in a couple different honor societies. I want to get involved with the AFROTC program. Does anyone have any advice on how to better my chances of getting in or what they think they are? I'm out of state also, but they're my number 1 school by far. I'm going to apply within the next month. Does it matter much if you come from a well known, highly regarded private school? And any info on their AFROTC program would be great. Thanks!

According to their website, if you have an ACT of at least 26 AND rank in the top 50% of your h.s. class, you are automatically admitted. But if you aren’t then you will be waitlisted. Raising your GPA to as close as a 3.0 as you can get and sending in a mid-year transcript will get you admitted from the waitlist. Good luck! I’m starting at OU on the 23rd :)

The problem is my school won’t release class rank (Hard private school) I doubt I’d be in the top 50% anyways. Has anyone else not met the automatic requirements but still gotten in?
