Low GPA - but do I still stand a chance ED II?

Due to a pretty horrendous Freshman and Sophomore year, my GPA isn't great. However, I pulled it up A LOT over the past two years. If I apply Early Decision II, do I have a shot?

Very competitive CT high school
English/Communications double major
GPA: 3.056 unweighted
SAT Reasoning: 680 R 600 M 700 W - 1980 total
No class rank
Total APs taken: 5 (including this year)
5 on English AP Test last year

EC's
350+ hours working at a local soup kitchen (over the course of three years)
50 hours volunteering at the town library
Participation in an Anti-Defamation League program at my school
Student Ambassador 9,10,11,12

Work
Teacher's Aide at a daycare

I'm also fluent in American Sign Language

well…I’m in the process of applying too so idk how much I could help but I think your SATs are strong but your ECs and GPA is a little weak. Maybe in your essay you should talk about whyyou slacked off your first two years and how if you had a second chance you would handle things differently…but since you’re applying ED your chances are higher because the school knows it’s not really a SAFETY or backup for you…you ACTUALLY want to go there.

the sign language thing is really cool!

good luck!

What’s your GPA from each year? Was it a 2.0 then bumped to a 3.5 in recent semesters?

GPA: Weak
ECs: Ok/Fair
APs: Ok, though 5 isn’t that many. Any honors, IBs, etc.?

Assuming great recommendations and essays, why not at least apply? I would say to apply to some safety schools that match your stats, but you might have a chance at GW too.

I got in (:

congrats =)

Congratulations!!

congrats !
