Low GPA but Great...everything else?

So I have a 3.2 GPA as a junior, which I know is very low. I’m not sure what happened over the years, but I guess a lack of motivation led to me not performing as well as I could have.

However, I have a 1570 SAT score, and am taking AP-level courses. I have taken 1 AP test already, and plan on taking 5 more this year alone.

My extracurriculars are also adequate (at least I hope they are):

1 Tenor Saxophone in my state

Writing for school newspaper
Marching band member (possible drum major next year)
National Honor Society and National Music Honor Society
Key Club Member (volunteering club in my school)
Countless volunteering hours at local elderly home and local hospital
Jazz Band Member

I plan on doing something in economics or finance. Northeastern, Rutgers Business, and schools of that level seem like good choices for me. NYU Stern is a bit of a reach.

What do you think my course of action should be from here? Are these school choices feasible, and how are my chances?
Any information at all is appreciated.

Thank you!

Look for colleges that give scholarships based on SAT scores.
Do not apply ED. Apply RD. Really put effort in to your senior classes and show that you can do well in them so colleges will see your fall semester grades and know what you are capable of.

There are plenty of colleges for you…I would look more based on your GPA.

Most colleges weigh GPA > SAT score so target colleges where average GPA is 3.2-3.6. (the former would be safeties, the latter high matches).
And of course if that 3.2 is unweighted - if that’s 3.2 weighted your situation is different.
For now, Rutgers, perhaps honors, Fordham would be matches.
NYU Stern is likely out of reach. Apply only after you’ve completed your other applications.
Apply RD and don’t forget to talk budget with your parents.

Make sure you have an excellent second semester report this year and an excellent first semester next year.

Look at schools where your music skills will help offset your GPA somewhat (St Olaf/Economics & Management) and express interest.
