wheatbread, I don’t think you gave luvtoski a fair response. It can be hard for anyone to hear, but cc is about getting honest information to make an informed decision about schools. Sure, applying to a school like Brown is great- luvtoski wasn’t saying NOT to apply- he/she was telling the honest truth that with those lower g.p.a. and test scores, as well as no hook, admission to Brown is very unlikely.

“lmao, you guys sound like rabid, competitive applicants trying to deter people from applying to brown.”

I get you can’t say for sure it’s impossible with “I’ll bet my life on that” certainty, but the statistical likelihood is so low it might as well be. It can be fine to dream, but cc is about getting information and knowing how possible or impossible admission is, not patting ourselves on the head and saying “oh boy there’s still a chance.” No one is rabid, we are being serious. And serious people give honest estimations of their ability and the abilities of others. Peace.

well, we’ll see what happens.

also, Brown’s website lists the most important thing to be the rigor of senior year classes.

I take:
AP Lang
AP Euro
AP Spanish
AP Calculus AB
AP Chemistry
Advanced Honors Physics

Additionally, my high school, although it si a public one, has a very good reputation. So maybe these factors will help me out.

I understand it is unlikely. But there is always that small percentage of peple who are not 4.0 straight A students.

The small percentage that aren’t 4.0 students are 3.8 and 3.9 students and your SAT scores are not going to be an advantage either.

you guys are so crazy. just let things happen. you’re going to have an ulcer.

this unyielding117 kid thinks he is such a hot shot.

OP there is no point in fruitless rationalization; you have been told several times that your chances of getting into Brown are very, very low, because of your low grades and SAT scores.

Why even make a thread if you don’t plan on listening to the advice you receive.

The Titanic sank when everyone it was “unsinkable.”

So if you want to go to Brown, give it a shot - it could happen. Anything is possible. Just show your personality and what makes you unique in comparison to other applicants.

^That’s probably the best example I’ve ever heard on CC to justify applying despite the chances! <3 <3 <3

There’s always a small chance so theres no harm in applying i guess. OP, you didnt even bother listing your EC’s, which along with your essay will be your only hope in getting in to Brown. If you dont have amazing ECs, your chances are slim to none. Also, the name of the thread is quite misleading because for brown, your test scores are sub-par at best and thats the truth whether or not you want to believe it.
