low gpa but PERFECT sat's!!!

I have around a 3.5/3.6 unweighted GPA (weighted should be around 4.0) but I'm not exactly sure since my school is very slow about this stuff. My SAT score is a 2400 :D My extracurriculars are pretty average, not amazingly stellar but really not that bad.

I want to go to CAS and will most likely apply ED II or RD.

Thank you so much! Oh yeah, I'm an Asian Female if that helps (or hurts).

Dude you beasted that test!!! 2400  nice!!! I think you stand a fantastic shot EDII.

thanks! do you think my GPA is too low? that’s what i’m worried about…

3.6 is probably just an average GPA, but definitely not a low one…you have a great shot even if you apply RD

Purple poppy,
You have a chance to bring up your GPA first semester or quarter senior year. You should focus on that to let admissions know you are not slacking off based on your strong ability (evidenced in perfect SAT scores). Put together a strong essay on your own behalf and spin the ECs you have in the right way to show you have motivation, ambition, dedication, passion, etc. The perfect score may work against you (possibly) if other areas that show development and perseverance over time do not match up with the standardized score abilities.

This website is a really good website where you can search colleges and see average GPA’s accepted and average SAT/ACT scores:

Just found out that my GPA will be a 3.58. Since this is below NYU’s average (3.6), how will this affect my chances?

Not much difference between 3.58 and 3.60 GPA. My feedback to you above applies still.
Just do not slack off, in fact try your best for the first half of senior year and work on your essay/ short answers, getting great recs this summer, continue with ECs, etc. this summer.

Thanks! Any other takers?

The 2400 will help a lot. If you can just bring up that GPA a little bit, and pull some good SAT 2s, you’ll be golden. You might even have a shot at Stern.
