3.9 W GPA/3.2 UW at a very good PA public high school
Took mostly Honors and will graduate having taken 5 APs.
2200 SAT
Good extracurriculars
Applied for fall term
Any chance at admission?
Also, if I am not admitted Fall, will I be considered for Summer B?
Thanks, if I'm admitted I will probably attend but I know very little about the admissions process.

To give you some context about the level of competitiveness for OOS admission to UF consider the following:

OOS admissions at UF are capped at a maximum of 3% although last year it was about 1.6%

UF freshman class for 2012 will be 6,300. It is usually 6400 but over-enrollment last year of 6,500 required the number to be reduced to 6,300.

Admission applications for 2012 are about 33,000 for which they will offer about 11,000
acceptances covering Fall, Summer B and Spring 2013.(6,300 is the projected admission yield). An acceptance rate of 33%.
4.Mean stats for all applicants admitted for 2011 were GPA:4.30, SAT 1963 and ACT 30.

OOS admit stats are much higher although UF does not release or break down OOS admissions stats. Last year according to College Data 411, My College Chances and College Confidential stats submitted by students (which are obviously unverifiable) many OOS students wth GPA’s over 4.60 and SAT’s over 2250 were rejected. Many of the rejected students were competitive for the Ivys and top 20 schools.
The bottom line is getting into UF OOS given all of the above is very difficult.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the honesty. I had heard that UF was actively looking for OOSers who can pay and have solid SAT scores to boost their stats and fill up their bank account though. But you would know better than I. Also, if I am not accepted for fall, will I be considered for Summer?

In answer to your question:

Either you are accepted or not. UF does not waitlist or reject you for one term and accept you for another. Generally, the highest stat students are accepted for Fall, then Summer B and then Spring. Unlike the University of California system which is actively seeking highly qualified OOS students to pay the tuition differential, the pressure due to economic issues, space and other factors has mandated the top rated state schools of Florida (UF,FSU ,UCF and USF) to limit OOS admissions. It would appear that of the 6,500 students who enrolled last year only about 95 were OOS. I do not know if that number included OOS athletic scholarship students. Obviously, it is not an easy mountain to climb. Good Luck.

Got in, but PSU has a better biz school so I will probably go there. Thanks anyway!
