Low GPA High SAT - Will I get in anywhere????

Hey, so I applied to 11 schools, and I wouldn't exactly call any of them safeties. I was rejected from University of Pittsburgh's main campus but accepted into the Bradford campus yesterday. However my logic is I couldnt be rejected from all of them, right? can anyone confirm this and tell me which schools i may have a shot at?

here are my stats summarized:
79.8 GPA (school doesn't use 4.0 scale or rank), 1 AP course (AP Psych)
Nationally Recognized Public Highschool in NYC
1960 SAT
660 reading - 640 math - 660 writing
EC's: Model UN, NCSY Bronx Chapter, Red Cross Club, Summer office work experience
Essay - Pretty freakin good
Rec- Average
Ethnicity: Nepalese, but its mostly grouped in with asian/southasian

the schools:
CA Poly State Univ San Luis Obispo
UConn
U of Delaware
U of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
SUNY New Paltz
SUNY ESF
SUNY Geneseo
SUNY Oneonta
University at Buffalo (SUNY)
U of Vermont

Thanks!

I’ll assume 2.8. Still a little low.

UIUC: Reach
Cal Poly SLO: Reach
UConn: High match
UDel: high match
New Paltz: High match
ESF: Match
Oneonta: High match
Geneseo: Reach
U Buffalo: Match
UVT: Match

im confused, what is a high match? does it meen its a good match, a match but on the more difficult side, or a match on the easier side? sorry

A match but on the more difficult side.

ahh i see thanks

anyone else have opinions? very paranoid about this

UIUC: Reach
Cal Poly SLO: Reach
UConn: High match
UDel: high match
New Paltz: High match
ESF: Match
Oneonta: match
Geneseo: Low Reach
U Buffalo: Low Match
UVT: Match

thanks for the input!

UPDATES:

Waitlisted from Illinois LAS
SUNY ESF asked for my midterm grades

Also I applied to University of Colorado at Boulder since I posted this. anyone have chances for that school as well?

WOW seriously you got rejected from Pitt ? They are one of the schools that put a lot of emphasis on the SAT score and they still rejected a 1960…why is your GPA so low ? you should explain that in the essay…You high chance of getting into all of them except:

 1. SUNY at Geneseo(reach)
 2. Cal Poly Obispo(reach)
 3. Uconn(high match)
 4. UIUC(high match)

Also, why didn’t you apply to Penn State ?

I did not explain my GPA in my applications, however its clear to see most of my average is being pulled down for math classes!!! I’m talking most of those closes in the low 70s. Other areas like english on my transcript are like all 85-90 classes.

Yea I was very surprised to be rejected from Pitt… but I definitely feel Mid January was way late to apply considering they were rolling admissions. My schools naviance thing shows kids with lower avgs/SAT scores than me getting in Pitt in the last couple years!!! very frustrating

and haaha, I regretted not noticing Penn State as an option until it was too late :frowning: I realized how great of an option that would be to apply to in january but the deadline was Nov. 30th or something. for some reason the name of the school made me completely disregard even looking into their admission standards as I thought they were way more selective than they actually are. felt like an idiot in january when i realized i actually had a shot! hah

Actually Penn State’s 2/3 decision is based on GPA and remaining 1/3 in other stuff. So, you did have a shot at it.

I see. thanks!

updates:

Denied from Pitt
Denied from UConn
Denied from SUNY Oneonta
Waitlisted from Illinois at UC

No acceptances yet !!! :(

CU-Boulder: Match

thanks, i very much hope to get in there

anyone elses opinions would be great!

UPDATE: GOT INTO GENESEO AND ESF TODAY!!! Too happy. got pretty lucky for my low avg to get into these SUNYs. I also wrote a really good essay for ESF relating to my environmental science passion

That’s fantastic!! Geneseo is a really good college!!
