Hi! I recently got admitted to HC so this is just my two cents on this. I’ve talked to many admissions counselors from HC and current students so my information will be from everything I’ve compiled. Due to the fact that HC is test optional no matter how outstanding you do on your tests, your GPA and first quarter classes and grades will outweigh them. Of course since your scores were so good and way over their median 50, it will help you but not as much as you may think. Also, HC doesn’t really take APs for classes you have to take within that major, I know for a fact that’s the case for biology and such but check that on your intended majors site to make sure. HC loves to see improvement so with your improving GPA that’s very good. They also are very much into community service so having those hours is also extremely important. Another thing that I didn’t see or maybe missed is the interview. This is essential to your application you HAVE to do one. If you don’t your chances may have been from 50% to 30%, not trying to scare you or overexaggerate but I’ve heard of the interviewing completely breaking people’s applications who would’ve been accepted. Another thing HC really looks into is how hard your school is and the rigor of it and the classes you take compared to other schools as well as your stats compared to the kids they have admitted previously, they usually don’t do this though I think. It’s hard to say right now but I think you have a pretty good chance of getting in.
