Low GPA High test scores UC CHANCES?

Im was born in Canada moved to California 6 years ago and attend a high school here. My ethnicity is African American (Nigerian). Im looking to apply to colleges next fall and wnated to see what my chances are for a UC school. My GPA is looking like it'll be 3.4 weighted ( I was an underachiever for the most part of my high school career) Majority of my classes were AP scored a 5 on World History Ap exam... Hopefully score 5s on my Env Sci English 3 and AP Us this year

SAT: 1st attempt 2200 2nd 2400 (relying on this to get me in)

ECs: freshman year: baseball

Sophomore: Varsity track, mock trial (top defense team member in county) Interact Club (Board of Directors)

Junior: Interact:Vice President Mock Trial, Leadership: Commissioner of public relations
Varsity Track

Possible Senior year: Interact: president, Mock trial, Leadership: Class President , Varsity Track

Outside of school I worked over 200 hours of community service and I work at the technical department of my church for 3 years

Already started working on what will be a breathtaking personal statement

The biggest thing holding me down is my GPA...it is really ****ty and will probably be my downfall. Hopefully they overlook that... Ideally I'm interested in Cal UCLA Davis or UC San Diego UCSB please what re me chances ( be truthful) I am open to going to a jc and transferring from there.

Honestly,

I don’t think numbers are everything. I have gotten into phenomenal schools without the best set of numbers, but through my application I have shown that enjoy being challenged as a student and can overcome personal obstacles.

If you can show admission officers that, then I think you have a decent chance of going wherever you like.

UCs are pretty big on numbers as opposed to the subjective stuff so it’s really hard to tell, but the higher ranked UCs are more holistic, to my knowledge. Cal/LA/SD are most likely reaches but I’d say you have a decent chance at them - solid chances at Davis and SB.

idk to be honest. i got 2060 on my sat and i have a 4.1 gpa with mostly honors/ap classes and i was waitlisted to davis and rejected by san diego

Your grades are far more important than your test scores. It’s best to have them correlate, but if they don’t, it’s better to have a high gpa and lower test scores than the reverse, which you have, because it shows a lack of motivation. You have good extracurricular activities, which is good. You are right, a bad gpa is a downfall when considering how strong you are in all other areas. It’s worse because it shows lack of motivation in school. You’ll obviously get into some good schools… but don’t expect ivy leagues…
