is it too late to look for a summer internship now or not really? (maybe I can snag one that lasts for just one month?)

I also have a low GPA, does having a low GPA hinder your chances at internships? are there any decent internships that don't ask for GPAs?
I go to the U of Michigan Ann Arbor. What about finding a local internship in the metropolitan detroit area?

random q, is it worth it to transfer into northwestern from michigan for industrial engineering?

Tough call depending on IE focus. Plant Rat vs Operations vs Logistics vs Human Factors vs this or that. Rankings wise they’re both top, with U of M a bit higher. Do you see business classes in your future?

U of M does have the reputation of a ‘hard grading’ school for some reason or so my few friends who went there say…

Its definitely too late to find one this summer. A low GPA will hinder you chances at an internship but if you thinks thats going to hurt you then id definitely consider going for an operational (hands on) sort of internship. Im not sure what type of engineering you are but say you were petroleum, instead of working for Exxon maybe go and find a small drilling/matinence company to help get that inital experience.

Most internships, Co-ops or REUs have already filled their seats. The deadline for many REUs (Research Experience for Undergraduates) was in the late winter. In fact Lake Jr.'s engineering REU comes to an end the last week of July.

Work on raising your GPA and keep your eyes peeled for summer 2014 opportunities, some of which will issue announcements and request applications in November.
