Low GPA, Low SAT, Strong ECs. Chances for Rice?

I really want to go to Rice and I'm super excited about the school. I had an interview today and it went really well. I'm really worried because I don't think my GPA or SATs are high enough and I don't know if I am a fantastic essay writer. Enough so that they look past my low stats. I really want this.

I think it looks like I do too much but I was actually very involved in everything that I did.
I wanted to visit but I will have to do it AFTER the ED deadline.

Essays
one will highlight my experience in Africa (which I think is prob the same way anyone would feel after going there, nothing too special accept the experience)
This one is okay, it's not absolutely amazing

other how I have over come all the trouble and turmoil in my life and not let that stop me
(have not written yet)
So any chance??

I really really want to go.
Out of the 500 who apply ED, only 150 will make it. Will I be an Owl?

bump....plz

what does it take to get someone's opinion? I'm super nervous

sorry, I really don't know anything about rice. But it seems like you are a really solid prospect.

anyone else??????

Hooks are nice. Maybe you should study for the SAT 1 and retake it in December. 2100+ would probably make you a sure shot with those hooks.

I would but I plan on doing ED. The reason behind this is I figure that the majority of the ED applicants will be from Texas and very few will be black which should give me an edge despite my low stats.

so I'm not making a mistake?

I don’t know anything about Rice but one thing is, they are very selective. GPA is the most important factor. I was rejected by 2 Universities because of GPA

^ The OP is currently at Rice. :)

Why apply to Rice?

I suggest you apply to an top notch Christian University: Notre-Dame.

Maybe even John Hopkins if your intended major is science-related.

Your scores are sufficient considering you’re an under-represented minority and you’ll blow them away with your community involvement.

I think you’re a shoe in.

^ Way to simply disregard my post and the OP’s location XP

Good. QUite good.
