Hello, im a student in a california community college
Im wishing to transfer to a computer engineering major but I have a pretty low gpa 2.8
I really want to transfer to a UC or any other good universities
But it seems like most schools require a higher gpa…
I wanted to know if there were any other undergrad programs that I could apply to and have a pretty high rate of getting accepted.
None of the UC’s will allow you to TAG for CE with your GPA. You need a 3.0 for UC Merced and 3.1 for UC Riverside.

You can still apply, but there is no guarantee. I would focus on the Cal states and again your GPA would is low for the top CSU’s such I would look at your local CSU due to priority along with some of the less impacted campuses such as Chico State, Dominguez Hills, Sac State, East Bay etc… Use the link to see which CSU’s are non-impacted for Engineering.

With a 2.8, i don’t think Sac or Chico is in the cards either. East Bay and other non-impacted campuses are your best shot.
Good luck
I’ve been calculating my gpa, and it seems like I might be able to raise it to a 3.3 before I transfer. Would I need this gpa when I apply? or would they go over my new gpa when I update it later? Also. would it be better if I transfer for fall 2017 or should I wait another year?
When you say, you can raise your GPA before you transfer, is this by the time of application at the end of November or by end of Spring 2017? If you want to TAG to a UC, you have to meet the GPA requirement at time of application and maintain that GPA until end of Spring 2017 or your TAG will no longer be valid. You do get to update your TAU with Fall grades which could make a difference if you can raise your GPA to 3.3 by then but Spring grades will not be available by decision time.
I you think by staying an extra year at a CCC will help with your school choices and GPA, it may be worth it. Just remember if you are on FA, there is a time limit for Federal funds to be used.
UCs aren’t the only path to a happy life and successful career. I think you should target SF, SJSU or East Bay and get on with your education. All 3 are in tech central, offer very credible degrees - you should have no trouble getting a job with a Computer Engineering degree from any of them.
SF and East Bay aren’t impacted - so apply and you are in. At SJSU the transfer threshold for CE was just 2.7 - now that does change year to year but, you’ve got a very good shot.

Thank you guys!! Also, by SF do you mean University of San Francisco??
SF is probably San Francisco State but USF is also worth checking out.
