I am currently a senior in high school and am looking to major in electrical engineering. My GPA weighted is 3.75 but unweighted is only 3.4, I am taking almost all AP and honors classes. Will my low gpa affect me severely when applying to my top schools ( villanova and Syracuse)? I also got a 1820 on my latest sat and 27 on my ACT.

You guys make me feel so terrible about myself. I have like a 3.3 UW :(

lol whut ! my UW is a 2.6 ! pray for me !

I know EXACTLY what you’re going through. I also have a very low GPA, not because I’m a slacker or just plain dumb, but just because I had some personal issues in high school. I’m human, what can I do?

Does your school report weighted or unweighted GPA? Or both? I’m lucky because my school only reports weighted, but even weighted my GPA is still low :(

Was there any reason for your low GPA? If so, ask your guidance counselor to talk about it! And also, how are your ECs?

I’d also recommend doing an interview.

Good luck for you Human intelligence is more than just numbers, and I hope your first-choice colleges see that!

Well schools like Nova are definitely not your safety. Your weighted GPA is only slightly above the average UW GPA, which is a 3.68. Partnering that with your SAT scores, which are also average for this school, I think is a Reach. As for SU, I think your chances are slightly better, but not by a lot. I would try to increase SAT’s if you have time. But, as Penny said, intelligence is more than numbers. Hopefully you have good EC’s that will balance out with the numbers. Good Luck!
