Does having only an 89 average destroy my chances of acceptance into Mac? I really love everything I have heard about the college, but am unsure of whether it would be considered a reach? I have decent ECs and a 2080 SAT...

hi! i am applying to mac with an 89 average as well. remember, while grades play an important role in the admissions process, your gpa certainly won’t make or break your chances at most places unless it’s drastically low. i know that i am articulate, write well, have decent scores, and have a good set of activities lined up, so it seems like i’ve got a good shot. macalester looks at the person, not a handful of numbers. if they see your potential in ways that are reflected through more than just your gpa, you have as good a chance as i do. i wish you the best! maybe we’ll both be in the class of 2018, eh?

Thanks for the reply! You’re absolutely right- and that’s one of the reasons I love Mac in the first place. Best of luck to you as well!!!
